All you have to do to keep your group from being able to produce a second generation hybrid is to add or delete a non-encoding genetic material section near a conserved gene with no chromsomally local interactions.

Then when the hybrid's body tries to make gametes, they will all be non-viable.

By altering your people's genome, you can speed up speciation and ensure no other race ever mixes with yours. If you want to allow a person to reproduce with your group, their gametes have to undergo modification to make that possible, then artificial fertilization.

It makes sense to GMO some trait so your people can easily identify each other, but perhaps something that goes unnoticed by the other races so you can still infiltrate their groups.
